Juan Jesus is furious at the decision to acquit Inter’s Francesco Acerbi in the alleged racism case, and Napoli is giving its defender strong support.

Acerbi was found not guilty by Serie A sports judge Gerardo Mastrandrea after the Napoli central defender alleged that he’d been referred to as a “negro”. The Italian was facing a 10-match ban, but a lack of concrete evidence ultimately affected the decision. Both Juan Jesus and Napoli expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision on Tuesday evening, with the Brazilian changing his Instagram profile photo to the Black Power salute and the club issuing a statement calling Serie A’s anti-racism initiatives “just for show”. As Il Mattino reported via TMW, Juan Jesus was surprised and upset by the decision to acquit Acerbi, feeling disappointed and worried for the future. He was even angrier after being told he could not appeal the decision. Napoli and the team will decide today how best to support the 32-year-old, and a special pre-match shirt could be worn against Atalanta.
