Javier Zanetti, vice-president of Inter Milan, recently spoke to the media about his first contact with José Mourinho. While he was still a player with the Nerazzurri, José Mourinho was appointed coach. The two men spoke on the phone, and the Argentine reveals what the Portuguese told him.
“I was in Rome on my way to Buenos Aires, and my mobile with the prefix Portugal rang. I answered: “Hi Javier, my name is José Mourinho. I’ve just signed with Inter and I’m your new coach, so you’ll be my captain. I’m looking forward to working together and I’m sorry about my Italian.” He spoke perfect Italian and hadn’t headed for Italy yet. That’s when I realized how prepared and involved he was, it really shocked me. “This is serious business”, I thought at the time,” Javier Zanetti told La Nacion.
