Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has been nominated for the prestigious Yachine Trophy, awarded by France Football to the world’s best goalkeepers for the calendar year.
The Trophée Yachine, part of the Ballon d’Or, will be awarded by a voting system involving journalists from around the world, and is due to be presented on October 30 in Paris. Maignan was included in a shortlist of 10 goalkeepers, and is the only goalkeeper currently plying his trade in Serie A. Although he missed much of the 2022-23 season through injury, the Frenchman established his importance to the team on his return, ultimately helping the Rossoneri finish fourth in Serie A, keeping eight clean sheets in 21 league games.
