Lazio were held to a 1-1 draw on Matchday 5 of the Serie A season. The capital club’s coach Maurizio Sarri lamented the lack of defensive solidity at the end of the match. He compared the match to the duels against the same club last season.
“With Monza last year too, the numbers were positive towards them, what’s disappointing is the submissive attitude between the 1-0 goal and the 1-1. “In the second half, we came back into the game and scored two or three goals to win, but now we need to rediscover certainties like defensive solidity. Are we losing too many tackles? In this area, we’ve never had good data, even in the past. Last year, in defensive 1-on-1s, we were the worst team in the league. What has changed is the defensive side of the game. We’ve become more solid and we’ve stopped attacking in space, and it’s hard to understand why,” said Maurizio Sarri at the end of the match against Monza.
