Reports in Italy claim that Maurizio Sarri and Lazio are set to part ways at the end of the season. Sarri’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2025, but both Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport reported on Thursday that the former Chelsea, Napoli and Juventus boss is set to leave the club at the end of the current season.

Both newspapers claim that Sarri and Lazio owner Lotito are no longer on good terms and have different views on the club’s transfer strategy for next season. The Italian tactician openly blamed the club’s transfer activity after a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina at the end of February, and refused to rule out leaving this summer following Lazio’s Champions League elimination against Bayern Munich earlier this week. “I have one year left on my contract, but the cycle can end. The team isn’t young anymore, so we have to do something,” he said at a post-match press conference, quoted by Gazzetta.
