Inter star Marcus Thuram underwent a series of medical tests this morning following his injury sustained in the Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old Frenchman was forced off the pitch at half-time of the Nerazzurri’s European match against Atletico on Tuesday evening, replaced by Marko Arnautovic. He was seen frustrated on the bench and it was clear that he had felt a problem with his adductor muscle. Thuram has been one of Inter’s star performers this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 34 games across all competitions, making him one of the most important players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad. As announced today, Thuram underwent medical examinations this morning at the Instituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano, which confirmed a right thigh adductor strain. Although the injury will keep the striker out for around two weeks, he has avoided suffering any major problems. The Frenchman will not be in the Nerazzurri squad for their forthcoming Serie A clashes with Lecce and Atalanta, but could hope to return to the field for the matches against Genoa on March 4 or Bologna on March 10. The aim for Thuram and Inter is to be fully fit for the return leg against Atletico on March 13, a key match in the team’s European campaign this season.
