The transfer window is closed, but players can still play in Serie A if they are free agents. Fiorentina have therefore terminated their contract with Marco Benassi.
The midfielder will be 29 next week and had been on the Viola books since leaving Turin for €12 million in the summer of 2017. He had loan spells with Verona, Empoli and Cremonese, but was not part of coach Vincenzo Italiano’s plans. As no transfer was found for him before the end of the mercato, Benassi officially terminated his contract with Fiorentina by mutual agreement. He is now a free agent and can negotiate a transfer to another club. Benassi has played 231 Serie A games, scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists.
