Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling are unlikely to be involved in Roma’s next match against Napoli this weekend, as the former Manchester United team-mates trained separately from the rest of the Giallorossi squad on Friday, according to reports.
The Giallorossi were in a recovery session on Friday, following Thursday night’s unusual 18-minute match against Udinese, and also used the day to begin preparations for Sunday’s trip to Napoli. Lukaku, however, continued to work individually. He wasn’t involved against Udinese on Thursday, and also pulled out of Monday’s 3-1 home defeat to Bologna. Smalling lined up against Udinese on Thursday evening, but was withdrawn after around 15 minutes after struggling with what appeared to be a groin problem.
