Luka Modric acknowledges that Croatia’s final group stage match against Italy will be “decisive”, but warns the Azzurri that his national team will “play without fear”.

Croatia have picked up just one point from their first two EURO 2024 group stage matches, losing to Spain and drawing with Albania, so the final match against Italy next week will be decisive for them. On the other hand, La Nazionale will meet Spain in Gelsenichirken tonight, and this is already a key match for the Azzurri and La Roja, as the winning team will qualify for the last 16 with a game to spare and as group winners. Whatever Italy’s result tonight, Croatia will need a win against the Azzurri on Monday June 24 to keep their qualification hopes alive. “We have no choice but to beat Italy, and we can only do that if we play like we did against Albania in the second half. It will be difficult against Italy, who are a well-organized team with an excellent coach. We knew from the start that the last match would be decisive. Maybe it would have been as such even if we had beaten Albania. We’ll play without fear. If we do what we know, we can face any opponent with confidence,” said Modric, quoted by TMW. Italy boss Luciano Spalletti is not expected to make any line-up changes tonight, confirming Riccardo Calafiori in central defense and Davide Frattesi and Lorenzo Pellegrini as attacking midfielders behind Gianluca Scamacca.
