Luciano Spalletti was at a press conference today, on the eve of the Squadra Azzurra’s second Euro 2024 match against Spain. The Italian national team coach unveiled the team’s penalty-taker strategy. According to him, there is a list of players qualified for this crucial task, reflecting a depth of talent within the team.

Spalletti stressed that several players stood out as viable options for taking penalties. “In my opinion, we have more than one: Scamacca, Retegui, Barella, Dimarco, then Calafiori and Jorginho can also beat them. The penalty-taker is one of them, because when you go to the penalty spot, we say one-two, whoever doesn’t feel like it must always have the spare kicker,” he declared.
