Gigio Donnarumma will captain Italy at Euro 2024, Luciano Spalletti has confirmed. Former AC Milan star Donnarumma will captain Italy at the next Euros.

Spalletti confirmed in his first pre-tournament press conference that the goalkeeper would captain the Azzurri in Germany. Donnarumma played a key role in Italy’s Euro 2020 victory three years ago and was named the competition’s best player, becoming the first goalkeeper to win such an award. The 25-year-old completed a free transfer to PSG a few days later. Donnarumma made 61 appearances for the Azzurri, including seven under Spalletti. The talented goalkeeper captained Italy six times under Spalletti. Italy find themselves in Group B at Euro 2024, along with Albania, Spain and Croatia. The Azzurri make their debut against Albania on June 15. The second match against Spain will be played on June 20, while the third and final group stage match will take place against Croatia on June 24.
