Rumors have suggested that Nemanja Matic is lobbying to leave Roma due to a divided dressing room, but captain Lorenzo Pellegrini was quick to deny it.
The 35-year-old Serbian midfielder wants to leave the Italian capital this month to join Rennes, where he has agreed a multi-year contract with slightly lower wages than his current contract with the Giallorossi. Roma had no intention of selling Matic this summer and were surprised by his insistence on a move. Rumors began to spread that he wanted to leave because of a dressing room divided between Italians and foreign players. Pellegrini was asked about Matic’s situation by a Roma fan in Trigoria, and he didn’t hesitate to answer the question: “This is bullshit, nonsense that only hurts your fans.”
