Lorenzo Pellegrini isn’t trying to make it back in time for Roma’s Europa League round of 16 second leg against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
According to information from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Giallorossi captain will wear a protective helmet to avoid any further damage from the head injury he sustained in the first leg of the Europa League. After undergoing medical checks on Monday morning, it has been confirmed that Roma’s influential midfielder could be in line to return in time for Thursday night. Pellegrini was not involved with the team in Roma’s 4-3 loss to Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico. According to the report, Pellegrini is “working hard” to make himself available to Jose Mourinho for the return match against Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena. Pellegrini is a crucial cog in Mourinho’s Europa League plans, with three goals and three assists to his credit in eight competitive games so far this season.
