Lecce have announced their decision to part company with head coach Marco Baroni . The 59-year-old Italian tactician took over the Puglia team in July 2021 and led them back to Serie A in his first season.
His second year in charge saw the Giallorossi finish 16th, five points ahead of Hellas Verona , who had to fight Lecce for survival in the play-off match. Baroni oversaw 80 matches during his two years in charge of Lecce, averaging 1.41 points per game with 29 wins and 26 draws. As announced by Lecce today, the club has been unable to conclude a new contract with Baroni and has therefore decided to part company with the coach. He was offered a new one-year contract with an increase in salary, but this was rejected, bringing negotiations to an end.
