On Tuesday, several media outlets reported that Maurizio Sarri would be leaving the Lazio Rome helm. However, it was not until today that the club officially announced the news. The announcement was made in a press release published on the club’s social media.

“SS Lazio announces that Maurizio Sarri has resigned as head coach of the first team. The company would like to thank the coach for the goals he has achieved and the work he has done, wishing him all the best in terms of human resources and professional success. At the same time, the club announces that it has decided to entrust Giovanni Martusciello with the technical supervision of the team,” reads the press release. This marks the end of a three-year association with the former Chelsea coach. Along with Conte, Zidane, Gattuso and Mourinho, he is one of the many free coaches on the market.
