Inter, the club’s directors and their captain, Lautaro Martinez, would all be keen to continue their partnership, but rumours of El Toro’s salary demands could make life difficult for the Nerazzurri.

As Calciomercato reported on Tuesday evening, Lautaro Martinez is looking for a salary in excess of €10 million per season. Reports earlier in the season suggested that Inter were prepared to offer €8 million, while the player was interested in a figure closer to €10 million. The 2022 World Cup winner is currently under contract until the summer of 2026, and there is nothing to suggest that he is actively seeking a move away from the club that has just won its second Serie A star. While this may be deserved for the league’s top scorer, it could have an impact on the deals Inter would like to strike in the rest of their squad. Inter have no intention of letting their captain go. The player is also reportedly keen to continue at the San Siro. This sentiment was reinforced by CEO Marotta in one of his latest interviews. He insisted that no Inter player has asked to leave the club before the summer transfer window. Nicolo Barella is also in a similar situation. Like Lautaro Martinez, his contract runs out in 2026, but his performances in recent years suggest that he may also be due for some sort of renewal. In Marotta’s recent conversation with journalists at an event in Milan, he suggested that the club might offer some of their players the chance to extend their stay at the San Siro, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there will be immediate pay rises.
