Napoli striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been named UEFA Champions League Young Player of the Season for 2022-23.
The Georgian has taken Italian and European soccer by storm since his €11.5 million arrival from Dinamo Batumi last summer, helping Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists in 34 league appearances. Last week, Kvaratskhelia was crowned league MVP for the 2022-23 season. Now, Kvaratskhelia has also been recognized for his achievements on the continent, scoring two goals and providing four assists in nine appearances as Napoli progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time ever. Despite the team’s elimination, UEFA had seen enough to confirm that Kvaratskhelia had been the Champions League’s most successful youngster for the 2022-23 season.
