Juventus have begun planning a new contract for Adrien Rabiot as they seek to avoid last summer’s situation.
The 29-year-old Frenchman has around six weeks to play in the Piedmont capital, putting him on track to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season. He has continued to be an important part of Turin’s team. Last year, Rabiot was only a few days away from leaving Juventus before drafting in a one-year renewal worth around 7.5 million euros net per season, leaving him as one of the team’s highest-paid players. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli would like to reduce the wage bill before next season. According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are hoping to offer Rabiot a two-year contract to split his €7.5 million salary, keen to retain the midfielder while reducing their wage bill. Talks have already been opened with his mother-agent Véronique, but details will begin to be discussed after the Coppa Italia final. He has promised to make a decision after the final against Atalanta.
