According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atletico Madrid are interested in Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, but the Italian international wants to stay in Italy and Juventus are in “pole position”.
After learning that the Partenopei would sell him for a suitable offer, Di Lorenzo wants to leave the Stadio Maradona this summer. Although new coach Antonio Conte wants to keep Di Lorenzo at Napoli, the club’s communication has irritated the player and his agent, who has reiterated in recent days that his client wants to leave at all costs. According to Gazzetta, Juventus and Inter have taken an interest in the Napoli defender, while Atletico have already made a preliminary approach. However, the pink newspaper claims that Di Lorenzo wants to stay in Serie A and that Juventus are leading the race due to the defender’s strong bond with Cristiano Giuntoli. The problem for the Bianconeri is Napoli’s asking price of around €20 million. The Bianconeri have other priorities at the moment, in particular Teun Koopmeiners and Riccardo Calafiori, but they will try to reduce Napoli’s demands by including one of their footballers in a player exchange deal plus cash.
