José Mourinho has been officially suspended for one Serie A match, meaning he will miss the reunion with his former club Inter Milan.
The Portuguese coach was sent off in the final minutes of Roma’s 1-0 win over Monza on Sunday as he celebrated Stephan El Shaarawy’s goal by mocking Raffaele Palladino and his players with a “crying” gesture. The sports judge confirmed that Mourinho will be suspended for one match, meaning he will miss the next Serie A match against his former club Inter. Nuno Santos, one of Mourinho’s assistants, was also sent off against Monza and will not be on the bench against Inter. Roma were also fined €10,000 for “objective liability”, as their ball boys were late in returning the ball to the players on the pitch after El Shaarawy’s goal. Roma will play in the Europa League on Thursday, but Mourinho also faces a European ban after receiving a four-match suspension following last season’s final against Sevilla, which the Giallorossi lost on penalties.
