José Mourinho has made it clear that he wants to stay at Roma, and the fans feel the same way. It is therefore reported that the club will offer him a new contract with certain limitations.
The Friedkin family who run the Serie A side have spent months considering all their options, as they enter the third and final season of Mourinho’s current contract. The Special One has repeatedly stated that he would be happy to stay at the Stadio Olimpico, but that the decision ultimately rests with the owners. According to Calciomercato.com, the Friedkins have now made their choice and will offer Mourinho a new, limited contract. It will only be for one more season, with an option for a second that will only be activated if he secures qualification for the Champions League. The budget is still extremely tight due to Financial Fair Play parameters, and the club needs to appoint a new sporting director, as Tiago Pinto leaves just after the January mercato. With all this in mind, Roma don’t think they can afford to lose Mourinho, who acts as more than just a coach within the club, also representing a focal point for fans and media alike.
