Gianluigi Buffon, head of the Italian national soccer team delegation, gave his views on the awarding of Euro 2032 to his country and Turkey. He expressed his satisfaction, especially for the younger generation. His only regret, he says, is not having had the chance to play a major tournament on home soil.
“It’s a great satisfaction. We were ready with a really thorough and convincing job. I think that when a similar competition takes place in a particular country, there’s an imprint that you give to the younger players and often through these emotions, they become closer and they never leave soccer again. One of the regrets of my career is not to have played in a European Championship or a World Cup in Italy,” Buffon told Sky.
