During the “La Notte della C” festivities at the Milan Triennale, Italian soccer icon Gianluigi Buffon spoke of his disappointment at losing Giorgio Scalvini for Euro 2024. The 20-year-old Atalanta center-back was injured just before the tournament, preventing him from representing the Squadra Azzurra in Germany.
In an interview with the media, Buffon expressed his support for Scalvini, praising his exemplary behavior and undeniable professionalism. “It’s a great sorrow,” said Buffon, “we are losing a strong player, but above all, we are sorry for the boy himself.” Scalvini’s absence will leave a gap in the Italian defense, but Buffon remains optimistic about the young talent’s future. “He’ll have more time to enjoy the Europa League he’s just won with Atalanta,” said Buffon, stressing that Scalvini will have other opportunities to shine on the international stage.
