The Italian team kicked off their Euro 2024 campaign with a convincing victory over Albania, winning 2-1 on Saturday. This promising performance has put the Italians in a good position for their next challenge against Spain. A formidable test which begins on Thursday.
At a press conference this morning, Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi shared his thoughts on the upcoming encounter. Asked about the adjustments needed against Spain, he said lucidly: “We’ll certainly have less possession than in the match against Albania, which is their strong point. We’ll have to be more attentive in the defensive phase, because unlike Albania, Spain won’t close the game down until the end of the 90 minutes. We need to be solid defensively and capitalize on any opportunities that present themselves.” As for the strategy for beating Spain, Frattesi was frank: “Especially at this stage, I have to say that Spain are ahead of us. We have to know how to suffer, how to fight intensely, that’s crucial. If we push them into physical duels, the match will become very difficult.”
