Italian international striker Stephan El Shaarawy spoke at a press conference two days after the draw with Croatia, underlining the resilience and determination of the Squadra Azzurra. The Roma player has not been selected by Luciano Spalletti for Euro 2024.

“The final in Leipzig was a moving experience for all of us. Scoring in the 97th minute was a moment of great joy and satisfaction. It shows that this team never gives up, that scoring in the second half is not just a matter of luck, but rather the result of the quality of a team that believes in its abilities right up to the last second,” began the 31-year-old. Referring to the team’s overall performance on Monday, El Shaarawy underlined the commitment and collective effort that enabled Italy to qualify. “There was great commitment from all the players. In my opinion, the qualification achieved is fully deserved.”
