In an interview with Il Giornale, Italy’s Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi spoke about the future of the Italian national team following Roberto Mancini’s resignation. The latter admitted that the Squadra Azzurra need to move quickly to safety in order to qualify for the next Euro. He also spoke of his personal relationship with the now ex-Italy coach.
“With just a month to go before the important European qualifiers, we need to be safe and fast. Not just for the national team, but for the whole movement, it’s important to qualify for the next European championships. My relationship with Mancini? Excellent and long-lasting, and for that reason too I regret his departure. But I repeat, delicate choices like these are respected and not discussed”, declared the Italian Minister of Sport.
