Francesco Totti has underlined his confidence in Italy ahead of the European Championship.
The Azzurri are preparing for their first major tournament in three years, entering Euro 2024 as defending champions after their historic success at the last edition in 2021. The pressure is enormous after the team missed out on a place at the World Cup in Qatar 18 months ago. Italy will face Spain, Croatia and Albania in Group B of the European Championship, but they will first play two friendlies in preparation for the tournament, against Turkey on June 4 and Bosnia on June 9. Their first match in Germany will be against Albania on June 15. Speaking to TV Play via TMW, Totti began by discussing Italy’s hopes for the European Championship. “I think that when there is a competition as important as the European Championship, the group comes before the individual. Italy are strong, they have an excellent coach and we hope they can do well,” said the Italian international.
