Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer is close to equalling Gianluigi Buffon’s Serie A clean sheet record. The Italian legend has gone 21 games without conceding. The Swiss, with 18 clean sheets to his name, is thinking about the record and spoke about it in a recent interview. He also spoke of the advantages he has enjoyed since joining the Nerazzurri.

“Gigi was always my idol when I was young. He’s a legend and it would be a great feat to match him. We’re trying as a team, because it wouldn’t be a record just for the goalkeeper. There are still a lot of things I can improve on. I’ve found two very good goalkeeping coaches here, who have taught me something different, both in terms of managing the role in Italian soccer, and on a technical level, such as the steps and movements you need to make to be even quicker and more explosive,” Sommer told Corriere Della Sera.
