Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer has been diagnosed with an ankle sprain, while Stefan De Vrij has suffered an adductor injury.

“Yann Sommer and Stefan De Vrij underwent medical tests this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. They revealed that the Swiss goalkeeper has a sprained right ankle, which will be assessed day by day. The Dutch defender will also be reassessed in a few days following a strain in the adductor longus muscle of the right thigh,” Inter said in a statement. Both players are expected to miss Inter’s next match against Empoli although, according to Sky Sport Italia, Sommer still has a chance of being available against the Tuscans at San Siro on Monday April 1, and Sommer’s availability depends on how he recovers in the coming days. De Vrij, on the other hand, is likely to miss the Empoli match and will return against Udinese or Cagliari. Simone Inzaghi will be short of defensive options against Empoli if Francesco Acerbi is found guilty of racist abuse against Juan Jesus of Napoli. A FIGC investigation into the matter has been completed and the sports judge will deliver his verdict this week.
