Following Francesco Acerbi’s injury, Inter have begun the search for defensive reinforcements, identifying a number of possible options.
The 34-year-old central defender has been forced to withdraw from the Italian squad ahead of the forthcoming European Championship due to pubalgia problems, which will force him to undergo surgery next week. Acerbi will remain in Inter’s defense next season, along with fellow veteran Stefan de Vrij, but the injury has prompted the club to start considering their backline options as they prepare for a busy 2024-25 season. According to Calciomercato.com Inter have begun to identify a number of possible reinforcements to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s defense this summer, some proving more convincing than others. The Nerazzurri’s main targets are Perr Schuurs and Alessandro Buongiorno, but neither would be cheap and negotiating with Urbano Cairo is never easy, so they are highlighting some alternatives. Udinese’s Jaka Bijol is on the list, as are Anderlecht’s Zeno Debast, Lille’s Leny Yoro and Odense’s Tobias Slotsager.
