According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are furious with defender Francesco Acerbi and will part company with the experienced center-back if he is found guilty of racist abuse.

The 36-year-old was interviewed by FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè on Friday morning and faces at least a ten-match ban if found guilty of racist abuse. The Napoli center-back accused Acerbi of calling him a “negro” during Sunday’s Serie A match at the San Siro. Juan Jesus said Acerbi had apologized on the pitch, but the Nerazzurri defender denied the allegations the following day. Acerbi insisted at Friday’s hearing with Chinè that he hadn’t said anything racist to Juan Jesus. However, according to Gazzetta, Inter are furious with their defender, not only for the incident itself, but also for the way he has handled the matter publicly. According to the report, Acerbi’s agent, Federico Pastorello, suggested media exposure, which Inter didn’t like. Of course, if Acderbi is found guilty of racism, the Nerazzurri would be even more upset, as such behavior goes against the club’s founding principles. Although no decision on the defender’s future will be taken until Chinè delivers his verdict next week, Gazzetta claims that the Nerazzurri will part company with the 36-year-old if he is found guilty. Acerbi’s contract runs out in June 2025, so the Nerazzuri would have to find a way to release the defender.
