Tiago Pinto wraps up his experience at Roma and greets the fans, thanking them for their “passion”, insisting that he’s leaving a better Roma than the one he found when he arrived.
The sporting director was under contract until June 30, but announced his decision to step down at the close of the winter mercato. He has been very busy in recent weeks, bringing in Tommaso Baldanzi from Empoli and left-back Angelino.
“I wish you all the best. I can never thank you enough for the extraordinary experience we had together, during which I worked my hardest to bring you to your place, to the top, to a position that could live up to your greatness as a club and as a city. I will always carry with me your support, your passion and your Roman heart, which won me over at the Stadio Olimpico and every time we crossed paths on one of your magnificent streets. I have always believed in the project we have built, and today I believe I am leaving behind a better Roma than the one I found when I arrived. We have lived glorious moments together, overcome difficult days, and now that my time here is over, I can only express my gratitude to all those who have supported me from the start. To all the Romanista fans and friends, to all those who continue to wear this wonderful jersey with pride, to all the staff and people in charge of the club, to the players, to De Rossi the future is yours,” Tiago Pinto wrote on Instagram.
As for Tiago Pinto, the 39-year-old former Benfica manager took the reins in January 2021 and leaves three years later, having helped Roma win the Conference Europa League and reach the Europa League final. The Friedkin family, who own the club, are now looking for a replacement to carry out their transfer strategy.
