De Ketelaere confirms that he doesn’t want to return to AC Milan at the end of the season. The 23-year-old moved to Atalanta on loan with an option to buy last summer, and La Dea can make his move permanent for €22 million.
“I learned a lot from the negative season at AC Milan. It helped me take steps forward, and it will help me even more in the future. I’m happy at Atalanta; I’ve found the right environment for me and my style of play, which only Atalanta could give me. We play good soccer and all the players know what to do. Gasperini is tough but also fair. If it were up to me, I’d stay here because I can still improve. AC Milan is a great club, but I have to play right away and I don’t want to end up on the bench. Atalanta help me, from the staff to my team-mates and the fans who make me feel at home,” De Ketelaere told HLN. De Ketelaere has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 36 appearances in all competitions this season, while in his first and only campaign at San Siro, he managed just one assist in 40 games. Gian Piero Gasperini used the former Club Burgge star as a striker, giving De Ketelaere more opportunities to make a difference in the final third.
