Uruguayan midfielder Carlos Benavidez, who plays for Deportivo Alaves in Spain, is in Roberto Mancini’s sights to join the Squadra Azzurra. Speaking to Tuttosport, the 25-year-old responded to the interest. He promised to learn Italian as quickly as possible should he receive the offer to play for the Squadra Azzurra.
“When I heard the news, after reading it in various newspapers and receiving confirmation from Javier Hernandez, my agent, I realized that I was doing a good job. It’s something motivating, incredible. Would I say yes? Of course, no problem. That would be really nice. I understand some of the words, but I don’t speak it– continues the player. I come from the Rino Gattuso school. His attitude and character represent me. If Mancini were to call me? I’ll start studying right away,” he declared.
