After joining Napoli on loan in 2022, Giacomo Raspadori finally signed for the Azzurri in 2023. Sassuolo pocketed 26 million euros. A few months after his definitive signing, the Italian striker talks about the reasons behind his choice. Among other things, he wanted to play in the same shirt as a certain Diego Armando Maradona.
“Right from the start, I was proud to be here. Juve, Milan, Inter had been looking for me, but I’m happy to be playing for Napoli, also because of the history of the players, I’d just like to remember Maradona and Juliano, who wore this shirt. I’m ambitious and I knew it was the right place: after the wonderful time I spent at Sassuolo, I needed to get out of my comfort zone, to fight for a Scudetto and in international cups. It was strange at first, but here there’s energy, a joie de vivre and a passion for soccer that’s a fever and a real, collective, everyday love. I’m happy here,” the 23-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
