A few days ago, AC Milan recorded a painful 1-0 victory over Genoa. A match in which Mike Maignan saw red in the dying minutes. Christian Pulisic, the striker of the match, was ready to replace him before the choice fell on Giroud.
“A few guys ran up and said, ‘Who’s going to go in goal? And I said: I will. I’m happy to do it if that’s what it takes. But then Olivier said he’d do it. I think the goalkeeping coach was more in agreement with him. It’s safer. He’s a bit taller, but I don’t think that would have been a problem for me. But he came in and did a great job,” the American first revealed to the Daily Mail. He went on to talk about the strong emotions he felt during the match. “I mean, I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’ve never been in a game where a player went into the goal. It felt like the match went on forever. It didn’t make sense. Obviously, a lot happened. A lot of emotions,” he concluded.
