A few days ago, Maurizio Sarri said that he would have liked his international players to stay with their clubs for the international break. Italy’s national coach responded to his compatriot with a very courteous reply.

“I have a lot of respect for Sarri, he has feeling and love for this sport. When you love this sport, you look for new things to invent and work on. He said something right when he said, “The longer he stays at home, the happier I am. Even when I was a club coach, I always ended up with someone who came back with a few problems, especially if he had to travel 15-16 hours. The comment is that we don’t want to send them back worse, we want to send them back better. But then the national team has to be close to everyone’s heart, including his. Italy occupies first place in terms of importance and everyone can take things from the national team to make better soccer. My aim is to go arm in arm with everyone,” said Luciano Spalletti.
