“I left because…”, Strootman reflects on his departure from Roma

Passed by Roma between 2013 and 2018, Kevin Strootman had to leave the Giallorossi against his will. Years later, in an interview with Il Messaggero, the Dutchman returns to this sequence and tells the conditions of his departure from the club.

“I left because there weren’t the conditions to continue. They were taking midfielders and I was wondering what would happen to me. I was untransferable, but Garcia called me from Marseille, I stalled and in the meantime I learned that Monchi had already agreed on the price with OM. This was not honest. I talked about it with Di Francesco and his reaction was not that of someone he would have kept at all costs. I didn’t have good feelings, I played in Turin and then we decided to separate. What was I left to do if I wasn’t accepted anymore”, said the Genoa player.
