Rafael Leao wore the captain’s armband for AC Milan last September, on Matchday 5 between the Rossoneri and Helvetia Verona. In the absence of Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria, he had the distinct honor of leading the team. An experience he hopes to repeat many times over.
“That week, we were in a slump, we weren’t winning. On the day of the match, we had a meeting and a tactical briefing, and then the coach said that in the absence of Theo and Calabria, I would be the captain. I didn’t expect that, but that’s what he said. He said everyone trusted me. Everyone was happy and I was proud of that. I’ve been here for many years, it’s already a joy to be here, so I’m hoping to be captain many more times,” Rafael Leao told Sky Sports.
