In an interview with AS, Alvaro Morata revealed that he could have signed for Inter Milan. He put forward his good relations with Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi, and CEO Beppe Marotta. But even more so, his special relationship with Diego Simeone at Atlético made it impossible for him to leave the Colchoneros to sign for Lombardy.
“I have an excellent relationship with the coach (Inzaghi) and the sporting director (but he’s talking about Marotta, the CEO). Marotta took me from Juventus… we were very close, fortunately for me, I had several options. But then I spoke to the coach (Simeone, editor’s note) and I think I made the best decision by staying at Atletico. It was a direct, face-to-face conversation. I had a lot of shared opinions. I’ve always admired Simeone as a coach, and it’s a pleasure to be working together now,” declared Alvaro Morata.
