Gabriele Gravina, President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), spoke to TV2000 about Roberto Mancini’s resignation as head of the national team. For the head of Italian soccer, the resignation was a betrayal on a human level.
On August 13, Roberto Mancini announced his resignation as head of the Squadra Azzurra. It was a decision that was not unanimously accepted, and one that sincerely hurt, especially Gabriele Gravina. “Not on a sporting level, but on a human level, the choice of Mancini was a disappointment. I felt betrayed in pure sentiment towards Roberto, whom I’ve always considered a friend. Aside from the interest in his technical choice, for me it was a wound that I find hard to heal,” declared Gabriele Gravina.
