Roberto De Zerbi, the Italian coach now at Brighton in the Premier League, has railed against refereeing. The former Sassuolo manager revealed that he dislikes the vast majority of English referees. This is for the simple reason that they are unable to make good decisions, even after consulting VAR.

Brigton drew 1-1 with Sheffield United on Sunday in the 12th round of the Premier League. A Brighton player was even sent off in the game. All in all, Roberto De Zerbi made no secret of his indignation at the refereeing at the end of the game. “I’m honest and clear. I don’t like 80% of English referees. That’s nothing new. I don’t like them, I don’t like the way they behave on the pitch. England is the only country where VAR exists, but you can’t be sure that a correct decision is made. But in other countries, you have to be 100% sure,” said the Italian coach.
