Gianluigi Buffon spent most of his career with Juventus. He also played for Parma in Italy. But in a recent interview, the former PSG star revealed that on two occasions, he could have signed for Roma.

“In the summer of 2001, I joined Juventus, who revealed themselves in June, so later than the others. A few months earlier, my agent had gone to talk to Barcelona, while at the beginning of May, at my home in Parma, Franco Baldini, then sporting director of Roma, came to visit me. We talked about possible future projects for Giallorossi: for me, I liked the idea of playing with my friend Totti, I was young and I was fascinated by a place with these peaks of enthusiasm, so the possibility was there. I was even closer to Roma in 2011, when Antonio Conte arrived at Juventus but forced me to stay. Without his arrival, and above all without that veto, my transfer to Roma became a concrete opportunity. So there were a few opportunities, but in the end it just happened, it was nice and I think it was right,” Gianluigi Buffon told Radio Romanista.
