Claudio Lotito, president of Lazio, made a recent media appearance in which he revealed how the mercato was going at his club. Unlike other clubs, it is not the coach who gives the list of players he wants. Instead, Maurizio Sarri proposes his job requirements to his chairman.
“I’ve got clear ideas, I’ve asked Sarri not to give me names, but positions to cover, his technical-tactical needs. I choose the players. At Formello, there’s a whole sector dealing with scouting, with eight dedicated positions. When Castellanos arrived, I paid him a lot of money. Now Maurizio is asking me for a low centre-forward, a defender, not necessarily a left-back, an outside-back and a central defender. I have all the names in mind”, Claudio Lotito told Corriere Dello Sport.
