Luciano Spalletti is now coach of the Italian national team. At his introductory press conference, Spalletti revealed how his team will play under his guidance. He insists on starting with a four-man defense and a midfield that provides diversity and depth.
“The four-man defense. The midfield is an important area where a lot can be built up. We have one of the strongest midfielders in the world and that’s fundamental to building any kind of game. We’ll start with 4-3-3, then if you need a more attacking player, you can put a substitute forward and switch to 4-2-3-1. That’s what we’re going to do here in the first instance,” said Luciano Spalletti.
