Hellas Verona has officially appointed Marco Baroni as its new coach following his experience at Lecce.

The decision had been in the air for some time and was finally announced this afternoon. Baroni has signed a contract until June 2024, with an option to extend for a second season. The 59-year-old had been with Lecce since the summer of 2021, leading them to first place in the Serie B table and automatic promotion, then securing their top-flight status. It is a return to Verona, having started out as assistant coach to Alberto Malesani in the 2002-03 campaign. As a player, Baroni also represented Hellas Verona from 1996 to 1998, retiring in 2000.
