Italy international Destiny Udogie is set to miss this summer’s European Championship after undergoing surgery on his left quadriceps.

The 21-year-old Italian left-back has enjoyed a string of starts and good performances for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs in north London this term, scoring twice and generating three assists in 28 Premier League games. He was called up to the national team for the first time in October and made the squad again in March. Udogie shared a photo of himself and his mother in hospital on Saturday evening, after undergoing surgery on an unnamed injury. The Italian talent confirmed that his season was over as a result of the problem, casting doubt on his availability for this summer’s European Championship. As detailed by The Athletic, Udogie suffered a left quadriceps strain in training with Tottenham this week, forcing him to undergo surgery. He is expected to return to the Spurs squad for their pre-season preparations, and as such will miss Euro 2024 with Italy. Other reports, including Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio, also suggest that the 21-year-old has been ruled out of this summer’s tournament.
