Gianluigi Buffon is putting away his gloves for good. At the age of 45, he announced his retirement from soccer today.
The end for Gigi Buffon. After a 28-year career, the steel-gloved goalkeeper is stepping down. He has been with Parma since 2021. It was also with this club that he launched his professional career in 1995. He also spent 17 years with Juventus Turin, followed by a year with Paris Saint-Germain. “That’s the end of it. You gave me everything. I gave you everything. We won together,” wrote Gianluigi Buffon on his Instagram account. He leaves with an impressive list of honours that includes a World Cup, ten Scudetti and six Italian Cups, to name but a few.
