Gian Piero Gasperini has decided to move on with Atalanta after their Europa League triumph, forcing Napoli to turn to Antonio Conte, reports in detail.
The 66-year-old Italian tactician finally won his first trophy with the Dea on Wednesday, when his team claimed a 3-0 victory over Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has begun targeting Gasperini as his main option to become the new long-term coach in the Campania capital, with a view to launching a new project this summer. As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Gasperini decided to stay with Atalanta following his meeting with club president Antonio Percassi, who was pleased with the promise of investment and the confirmation that no top players would be sold this summer. His decision forced Napoli to look elsewhere for their new head coach, turning to Conte, who is keen to return to Serie A for next season.
