Olympique de Marseille are interested in former Lazio and Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri as they look for a possible replacement for Jean-Louis Gasset.

The Phocéens currently find themselves eighth in the table with a handful of games to play, leaving them far from the European places after a difficult campaign. Fans are expecting radical changes in the summer as they look to return to the upper echelons of Ligue 1. Sarri unexpectedly resigned from Lazio in March and has been linked with a number of jobs in recent months, including AC Milan, Napoli, Torino, Fiorentina and even his former club Chelsea, suggesting an interesting summer for the Italian tactician. Nicolo Schira details how Marseille approached Sarri to explore a possible move in the summer, wanting to find a replacement for Gasset. The French team already wanted the coach after his one-year stint with Juventus, but he turned down the offer as he wanted to take a a away from soccer. The 65-year-old tactician is unlikely to stay away from soccer for long this time, so updates on his future are expected in the coming weeks.
